to boost tourism in Arunachal
GUWAHATI, Oct 20: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today called upon the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) to plan out a NEDFi Haat in Arunachal Pradesh which could not only promote the local made items but would also boost tourism for the state in the lines of Delhi Haat.
While reviewing the activities undertaken by NEDFI in Arunachal Pradesh in a series of meetings held with the NEDFi and New India Assurance Co. Ltd officials at Guwahati this morning, Tuki called the public sector undertaking to identify entrepreneurs based on local needs. He was of the view that though NEDFi had undertaken numerous activities in the state, there had been very little publicity of their works. The CM opined for organizing mass awareness programmes for sensitizing the common masses on the benefits they could avail from NEDFi.
While responding to the request for a plot of land at Itanagar for NEDFi branch office, Tuki assured to provide all possible assistance. He also assured to look into other issues like single window clearance system with minimal documentation for industry projects and development of skills of local youths on a positive note.
While interacting with the delegates of New India Assurance Co. Ltd, Tuki reiterated that Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance scheme is one of the most ambitious programmes of the state government which requires to be implemented in letter and spirit.
“I want to ensure that each and every household in Arunachal Pradesh is benefitted from CM’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme” Tuki emphatically said. He requested the insurance company to expedite the left out enrollment and ensure speedy issuance of smart card to the beneficiaries. He however hinted for a monitoring committee to overlook the performance of the programme.
The meeting was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary Education, IPR Bamang Felix, Parliamentary Secretary Home etc. Likha Saya, APCC President Padi Richo, Planning secretary Sonam Chombay, State Protocol Officer and Secretary IPR and Culture Dani Sallu along with NEDFi officers and officers.

The doctors earlier referred such patients either to Guwahati or other places for operation due to lack of facilities in local hospitals. But, surgical operation of the complicated case has become available after the Dr. K Ratan started service in his father’s private hospital set up near Ruksin Community Health Centre. His father Dr Kabit Ratan, is also a popular doctor and treats poor patients on concessional rate. The doctor duo has appealed to the government of Arunachal Pradesh to create the post of ‘Maxillofacial Surgeon’ in the State Hospitals for the patients’ benefit.
Anthropology Dept. in colleges sought
ITANAGAR, Oct 20: The research scholars of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF) held a meeting today to discuss various issues and problems faced by them. The meeting was attended by the scholars of various departments of RGU and the coordinators who represented the various departments of the university.
The meeting discussed about the urgent need for introduction of Anthropology in the government colleges of the state as there are more than 35 tribal students, who have qualified NET and SLET in the Anthropology. Moreover, the scholars or students, who have done doctorate and qualified NET/SLET in Anthropology have no opportunity to get recruited as teachers in the colleges due to non existence of Anthropology department in the Govt. Colleges in the state which is a waste of human resources, the meeting observed.

Rijiju takes part in Chingdang festival
BOMDILA, Oct 20: Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju had participated in the Chingdang Festival of Sajolang tribe on Oct 15 during his three days visit to Nafra circle from Oct 14 to 16 last. Rijiju also attended various local programmes during his visit to Nafra.
In his address the Rijiju said that he would take care of NE region with special emphasis on border development in Arunachal Pradesh.

Rang Frah Government College week concluded
CHANGLANG, Oct 20: The road connectivity between Changlang town and college campus would be improved by the end of this year said Parliamentary Secretary, Trade and Commerce, Geology and Mining Phusum Khimhun while attending the valedictory function of 19th Annual College Week Celebration 2014 of Rang Frah Government College Changlang today.
He further clarified that construction of various infrastructure at the permanent site of the college will be carried at a rapid pace and by March 2015 the accommodation problems will be solved to a great extent.

2nd Gora Tamar Memorial Football Tournament from Nov 9
ITANAGAR, Oct 20: The 2nd Gora Tamar Memorial Football Tournament will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun from November 9, informed Arunachal Pradesh Football Association, the organizer of the tournament.
This tournament is open to all and can be participated by all registered or unregistered clubs or teams. The selection of players for the state football team for the ensuing North East Games to be held in Itanagar this year would be on the basis of their performance in this tournament, APFA assistant general secretary Kipa Ajay said. APFA requested all interested teams and clubs to confirm their participation before November 5.

SMILE conducts awareness prog on social issues
ITANAGAR, Oct 20: Indo Global Social Service Society (SMILE), Itanagar organized an awareness cum sensitization programme on various social issues and problems like domestic violence, early marriage etc. at Govt. Primary School Puroik Colony yesterday.
Attending the programme, Kani Nada Maling, legal advisor of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, gave an overview of Domestic Violence Act 2005. Informing that domestic violence against women can be in many forms like verbal, sexual, economic/financial and physical abuses, she educated the participants, mostly from Puroik community on the legal provisions under the Act for their protection.
She also highlighted on the adverse effects of early or child marriage. She informed the youths and parents on the occasion that the minimum age to get married as per law are 18years for girls and 21 years for boys.

IFCSAP team visits Tirap, inaugurates prayer centres

‘Give preference to locals’
ITANAGAR, Oct 20: The Gumto Youth Welfare Association (GYWA) today urged the district
administration to give preference and job reservation to local people in its the
group C and D such as UDC, LDC, Peon and Chowkidar as the vacant posts had been
published in the local dailies for recruitment against Gumto circle. In a letter
written to the Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare, the association claimed that local

A trial court on Monday sentenced all the five convicts to life imprisonment in the

The incident had sent shockwaves among the BPO employees who often have to travel
back home during night time. Following the incident, Delhi Police ordered all BPOs
in Delhi and the National Capital Region to drop women employees at their home after
their shift ends. Though rape law has been strengthened in the country as an outcome
of Nirbhay incident, still such incidents are not coming down. Once considered to
be the safest place for woman Arunachal has been hit hard by series of rape incidents
in recent years. This year alone three cases of rape cum murder have been reported
from various parts of the state. Apart from ensuring strong punishment to the perpetrators
of such crime, the Arunachalee society as a whole should also introspect and look
where things are going wrong. Let us hope that verdict like that of Dhaula Kuan gang

But till date we have not been compensated for the loss of lands from State Govt in particular and Centre in general. In those days, there had been bitter conflicts between people of Assam and Arunachal over lands as well as interstate boundary line. Those days, in your capacity as the Circle Officer of Nari, you closely witnessed sufferings and miseries of the people of the area. Since then most villagers of the area particularly people of Debing village are rendering lives landless and sustaining lives with great hardship.
Even now people can't live up to normal living standards due to economic causes.

India should first clean up its own backyard

Indian "nationalism" and "patriotism" is presently at its jingoistic best! While
our spacecraft is roving the Mars orbit uplifting the country among the elite club
of nations, the proud Indians are also sternly asking the Pakistanis and Chinese
to behave or get ready for the consequences! Bangla-
Though we are presently living in best of times as far as nationalism is concerned,
our patriotic feelings should be confined only within the narrow sphere of spewing
venoms directed towards the alien nations! But if we come across one of our own countrymen
boasting of peculiar language/attire/physical features, we hold every democratic
right to treat him/her as alien and taunt, abuse or torture him/her both physically
as well as psychologically! So Arunachal Pradesh is definitely an integral part of
India, but an Arunachalee or a North-
Actually this country is the paternal property of true Indians only! Now, what is the definition of a true Indian?
True Indian is he/she who speaks in classical languages of South India, in "Rajbhasa"
or at least zealously supports the claim of Hindi being the "national language",
rabidly shouts the slogan of 'My India is great'(again in Rashtrabhasa) completely
ignoring the hard fact of India's leading position in Global Slavery Index 2013;
immerses in the philistinism of Bollywood by discarding the indigenous cultures of
heterogeneous India; promptly protests against dishonour of symbols like national
anthem and tricolour, but preferring to look the other way when the real nation i.e
common Indians get trampled under the ills of poverty, hunger, malnutrition, illiteracy,
bonded labour, communalism, casteism, regionalism and atrocities of all possible
hues; flocks to the stadiums to root for the Dhonis and engages in the circus named
IPL; treats the overhyped money-
And there lies no doubt to the fact that the North-
Thus it would not be unfair to suggest that there lies something wrong with the Indian education system which might be capable of helping the students to churn out glamorous careers, but fails to broaden their general knowledge and vision. And less said about imparting moral education the better, else we would not have witnessed such imperialistic and racist attitude prevailing in the society.

Rising crime
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my grave concern regarding crimes being committed at frequent intervals. It feels really sad to see the rising crimes in our state. What is more awful and surprising to know is the fact that crimes are being committed frequently?
Here, in particular, I like to make a mention of the recent murder and rape case at Ziro. I applaud the police personnel of Ziro for their job done promptly.
It is not a peculiar fact that we encounter conflicts in some way or other in our daily walks of life. What matters is how we deal with such situations.
It is high time that we respond to the call of duty for humanity. We should thrive for a civilised society and harbour for love and peace for all.
